About IPSD Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team in Seguin, Texas as a Team Lead in our Logistics Department. As a team lead acting as a Logistics Engineering Technician, you will support our troubleshooting, process optimization and equipment improvements to ensure our logistical operations run smoothly while ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. Requirements

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in warehouse/supply chain work environment, leadership experience or relevant college degree or combination of experience
  • Previous experience and/or certification in operating forklifts, tugger, and/or other power equipment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Previous experience with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English
  • Proficiency in PLEX menus (control panel, check sheets, inventory search, rejection logs, etc.)
  • Intermediate experience with computers, inventory management software, and Excel
  • Ability to handle departmental delegation during issue resolution
  • Flexibility in shift and/or value stream assignments
  • Initiative and willingness to speak up

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1-years’ experience in material handling, inventory management, or supply chain working environments
  • Intermediate level proficiency using ERP/PLM systems such as PLEX, Teamcenter, and MAMM system
  • Lean manufacturing experience or Six Sigma Certification

Responsibilities

  • Audit, validate, and perform root cause analysis and address problems in logistics planning, part processes, and manufacturing standards, as well as capital expense tooling and equipment and facility improvements
  • Maintain awareness of technological advances in processing, automation of assembly/material movement and/or machine capability. You will use the knowledge to provide input into project assignments
  • Analyze and investigate shop problems and follow up on recommendations
  • Design to maintain, improve, and validate logistics engineering processes such as process design, facility layout, standardized work instructions, simulations, virtual modeling, testing, manufacturing releasing and production order readiness
  • Understand and perform heat maps for work center analysis
  • Read and use AutoCAD for layouts
  • Setup parts in Part Process routing setup
  • Operate Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) equipment
  • Review and complete continuous improvement cards in a timely manner
  • Add new assets into asset lockers for the internal logistics groups
  • Interpret Epix/PRWB part prints and determine the best internal material handling strategies
  • Use tools such as tape scrapers, impact tools and lay tape in a way that matches AutoCAD layouts
  • Assess system failure modes within a system to analyze risks in supply chain, transportation systems or support equipment
  • Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties
  • Champion the adherence to safety guidelines as well as 5S, a system that helps organize and maintain a productive work environment
