About The Position

As a Yard Team Lead at Z-Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, this role plays a key part in ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient handling, storage, and movement of finished modules and materials. Reporting to the Yard & Inventory Manager, this position oversees daily yard and inventory activities while coordinating closely with Logistics, QA/QC, Production, and Maintenance to support on-time delivery and inventory accuracy. This position requires strong organizational skills, mechanical aptitude, and a hands-on leadership approach to ensure modules are handled correctly, documentation is completed accurately, and yard operations meet quality and safety standards. This is a full-time, onsite role located in Killeen, TX, with required travel to off-site storage yards. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an active manufacturing or construction environment, takes ownership of operational details, and leads by example with a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a construction or manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of measuring and testing devices, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Basic math skills with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Uncompromising commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to off-site storage yards as required.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Ability to maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee final cleanup, walkarounds, and shrink-wrapping of released modules.
  • Complete final checklists, travelers, and required documentation and file records in SharePoint.
  • Record actual module weights and dimensions and maintain required documentation files.
  • Confirm storage locations prior to module movement and communicate changes with Logistics.
  • Oversee placement and organization of modules stored within on-site and off-site yards.
  • Document and report issues encountered during module movement, including material handling or damage concerns.
  • Coordinate with Logistics for module staging, loading, shipment, and off-site storage activities.
  • Photo-document outbound loads and ensure all shipping documentation, including BOLs, is completed and signed.
  • Communicate shipment or delivery schedule changes to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and yard supplies are available and request replenishment as needed.
  • Report equipment deficiencies, including leaks or mechanical concerns, to supervision.
  • Perform weekly yard inspections to identify storage, safety, or condition concerns.
  • Maintain storage maps for visual identification and inventory tracking.
  • Assist QA/QC, Production, and Inventory Planning with repairs, rework tracking, and weekly physical inventories.
  • Maintain daily housekeeping standards within yard and storage areas.
  • Participate in miscellaneous plant activities and special projects as assigned.
  • Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
