Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee. Job Title: Nurse, Lead (EPS) Position Summary To provide leadership and mentorship for nurses, as well as, provide mental health services to the Agency Schedule: Nights (7p-7a)

Requirements

  • Valid Tennessee Registered Nurse license with Psych & Mental Health Nurse Certification
  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Acceptable Criminal Background Investigation
  • Personal Automobile Insurance
  • Obtains up to date thorough knowledge of psychiatry and psychopharmacology
  • High level of communication skills with consumers
  • Familiarization with APA Practice Guidelines (American Psychiatric Association), current journals and other published information.
  • Ability to communicate with different levels of consumers and co-workers
  • Good ability to do written evaluations
  • Meet deadlines
  • Prepared for meetings
  • Progress Notes and Medication Orders are entered timely
  • Plan PTO in advance
  • Flexibility to adapt to different clinical settings when needed (Routine, Urgent, Emergent)
  • Provides consumer focused services to consumers and their supports in a culturally sensitive manner, that is specific to the consumer’s age and condition.
  • Demonstrates emotional resilience and stability, adaptability, flexibility and tolerance of ambiguity and anxiety.
  • Uses effective listening, nonverbal, explanatory, interviewing and writing skills to elicit and provide information.
  • Displays sensitivity and responsiveness to consumers’ culture, age, gender, and disabilities.
  • Uses information technology, applies medical information and clinical data systems to provide evidenced-based care.
  • Assessments are complete and include accurate, thorough history-taking and required components of the mental status and/or physical exam.
  • Applies evidence-based medicine to clinical decisions and demonstrates awareness of quality improvement measures and application to clinical practice.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the contexts and systems in which services are provided and able to apply this knowledge to improve care.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform agency identified de-escalation and safety skills through agency-identified training and skills performance.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, and provide care for consumers
  • Communication with leadership regarding staff issues
  • Serve as point of contact for nursing at EPS- Exhibiting strong positive collaboration with other disciplines to better serve consumers.
  • Ensuring administrative tasks are completed per shift- Audits, Incident Reports, Supply needs, etc.
  • Assist with crisis and consumer escalations.
  • Adjusting nursing roles to meet the care needs of the consumers as census or acuity changes
  • Management of walk-in wait times and assisting with heavy periods of walk-ins
  • Management and collaboration with hospital referrals
  • Assist with delivery of now doses of meds/emergency/urgent meds
  • Ensure compliance with staff breaks
  • Function as preceptor for nurses in training.
  • Participate in monthly team lead meetings with Director of Nursing
  • Encourage teamwork and collaboration.
  • Display interpersonal skills: written & verbal communication, active listening, clarity, confidence, and empathy
  • Cultivate a culture that drives high performance and drive consumer safety and quality outcomes.
  • Responsible for attending all mandatory in-services, continuing education and annual health requirements
  • Comply with all Corporate Compliance policies, practices and procedures
  • Report all unethical activities to supervisor, Corporate Compliance Office, Values Hotline number or Human Resource Director
  • Comply with all OSHA and safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Report all unsafe practices or accidents to supervisor, Safety Supervisor and/or OSHA Coordinator
  • Will be compliant with the relevant regulations concerning the privacy and security of consumer’s protected health information (PHI) as established by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
  • Follow all policies and procedures set by the Agency
