It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns. POSITION SUMMARY: Perform a variety of security and safety related functions while involved in the safeguarding of employees, patients, visitors, physicians, and property. Provides supervision, leadership and oversight for assigned shift. Coordinates with the Lieutenant to resolve shift, patrol routes, employee issues and scheduling. COMPETENCIES Must be able to read, speak and write proficiently in English in order to effectively communicate on a daily basis with staff, patients and visitors. Must be in good physical condition in order to quickly move up and down stairs, run in order to respond to urgent situations, stand for long periods and walk long rounds. Must be capable of taking swift and efficient action, forcibly detaining, restraining and/or extracting persons from the premises when responding to emergency codes or other urgent situations. Must be alert and have excellent observation skills Must have good communication and analytical abilities and ability to exercise independent judgement in emergency situations. Must possess a working knowledge of applicable state laws, especially those dealing with use of force and detention powers. Must have a thorough knowledge of the floor plan of the hospital including all the normal and emergency entry and exit points. Must have knowledge about Hospital and departmental policies and procedures, performing and enforcing said policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate as evidenced by a diploma or GED equivalency certificate.
  • Must possess an Associate Degree or sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, maintain a driving record free of any violations and pass a safe driving educational program upon hire and annually thereafter in order to be eligible to participate in the Fleet Vehicle Program Environment of Care Safety Policies and Procedures #110.
  • Must possess a current Connecticut Security Officer Identification Card.
  • Must be trained in PMT and de-escalation techniques, as prescribed by HHC.
  • A minimum of five-years of previous security or security-related experience, such as law enforcement, or military service is necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous lead or supervisory experience is preferred.
