About The Position

Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading building envelope solution supplier that effectively drives energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. We are seeking a Team Lead in our Petrolia Henry Plant. Henry Company Canada Inc- CWT has an exciting opportunity for a Production Team Lead in our Petrolia Location. This position will supervise and manage all aspects of production, which include but are not limited to the responsibilities listed below or any other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (two-year college or technical school) or (3-5) years related manufacturing experience required.
  • Prior Five Plus (5+) years of supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge in the manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures such as lockout tag out.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, etc.).
  • Able to identify possible quality defects and causes, and knowledgeable of corrective actions.
  • Prior experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5s
  • Effective communication and writing skills.
  • Basic math and reading skills.
  • Able to use measuring gauges such as tape measures.
  • Efficient problem-solving skills and ability to work in stressful work situations.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive before the start of the shift, prepared to relieve the outgoing Production Team Leader and in time for the outgoing Production Team Leader to communicate any issues or important information from the outgoing shift.
  • Manage the scheduling for coverage on all shifts, including vacation times, and follow the process as outlined in the most current collective bargaining agreement. Vacation request forms are to be used, dated, and signed.
  • Post for overtime using the appropriate form as required and follow the process as outlined in the most current collective bargaining agreement.
  • Complete attendance forms when employees call off or do not show up for work. If attendance becomes an issue (exceeds the acceptable limit as outlined in policy) follow the current policy for attendance issues and follow up with employees when they return for required documentation.
  • Attend all meetings as requested by management.
  • Ensure team members attend all required morning meetings and safety talks / stand downs as required.
  • Call out to employees when short-staffed using an appropriate tracking sheet to document the process as outlined in the most current collective bargaining agreement.
  • Drive the safety culture at the plant by leading by example, following all plant rules & policies, and enforcing those rules & policies if required.
  • Perform discussions, coaching, and, if needed, progressive discipline for any employee who does not adhere to plant rules and company/safety policies. Document all discussions and discipline.
  • Schedule and review all required training for yourself and all production team members, and ensure that team members are completing training and attending meetings.
  • Create any paperwork/forms required for the team, such as Hot work permits and safe mixer permits etc., and supervise the areas/personnel to ensure compliance.
  • Work with the production team to complete accident investigations, T3Ps, good catch, or any other forms required as required/requested by management on time.
  • Perform continuous plant walks and discussions with crew members to ensure personnel compliance, equipment/machinery conditions, building conditions, and general safety and security of grounds are intact.
  • Complete the full production shift report as required by the end of every shift. Be sure to complete all checks (ex. Safety, Housekeeping) and communicate professionally, including only facts relevant to the shift report.
  • Communicate with leadership clearly and professionally when an issue/incident occurs. Do this by listing the details of the situation, the plan, and the estimated time required to restore production or to fix the issue. If additional resources are required, please identify.
  • When communicating through any format, maintain professionalism, stick to the facts, use appropriate language, and clearly express your message.
  • Communicate all maintenance work order requests in written form or email with the maintenance team leaders and follow up with team members to ensure problems have been addressed.
  • Communicate regularly with maintenance team leaders on assigned duties, work orders, or expectations so that on night shifts, there is clear direction and report any issues with staff or work order completion to maintenance team leaders or operations manager.
  • If a scheduling conflict arises, communicate as early as possible.
  • Answer the phone when needed and direct calls accordingly
  • Direct production team members and monitor progress throughout the shift, including keeping personnel productive in times of machine downtime.
  • Daily, after surveying and noting plant condition, designate tasks for relief personnel and/or anyone affected by extended line stoppages to complete during the shift. Generally, these tasks should include cleaning of the entire shop floor and outside (specifically areas where access may be limited while lines are operational), as well as repackaging tasks, warehouse organization, etc.
  • Understand and use at least the following programs: JDE, ADP, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Review and follow the production schedule and direct the lines accordingly. Any issues meeting demands must be communicated immediately.
  • Continuously monitor/evaluate team member performance and adjust crewing, organize/provide training, and have formal discussions as needed to build crew performance.
  • Continuously monitor/evaluate quality throughout the manufacturing process and work with the quality department to ensure acceptable standards. If a problem arises, communicate with the leadership group immediately.
  • Support capital projects as required.
  • Understand procedures to handle emergencies, injuries, evacuations, control and appropriately lead through the situation as required.
