About The Position

The Team Lead – Prepared Deli Sales is responsible for driving profitable growth and strategic customer development for Tyson Foods across all Grocery Customers. This role leads a team of Customer Development Managers (CDMs) to deliver against Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets while strengthening customer partnerships and executing category growth strategies. This leader plays a critical role in aligning cross-functional teams, optimizing trade investments, and translating insights into actionable business plans that accelerate both Tyson’s portfolio performance and customer growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10+ years of sales leadership experience
  • Minimum 5 years in North American CPG / Deli packaged goods categories
  • Proven success leading teams and delivering financial results
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to evaluate trade ROI and business impact
  • Advanced analytical capability using syndicated and proprietary data (e.g. Nielsen, 84.51°)
  • Strategic thinking with ability to translate insights into action
  • Excellent communication and executive presence
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams (Sales, Category, Supply Chain, Finance, etc.)
  • Ability to influence without authority and drive alignment
  • Strong coaching and team development skills
  • Ability to travel (~12+ trips annually)

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery of AOP volume, revenue, and trade budget targets across assigned categories
  • Lead forecast reviews and proactively manage risks and opportunities
  • Optimize trade investment to maximize ROI and improve financial performance
  • Ensure disciplined execution of trade strategies and promotional effectiveness
  • Build and strengthen strategic relationships with key retail partners across Grocery
  • Lead Joint Growth Planning (JGP) processes by category and customer
  • Drive category growth by leveraging insights, innovation, and merchandising strategies
  • Partner with customers to align on long-term growth initiatives and distribution expansion
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Customer Development Managers (CDMs)
  • Establish clear performance expectations, scorecards, and accountability
  • Build organizational capability through ongoing development and feedback
  • Model Tyson’s RIGHT behaviors and leadership standards
  • Partner with Sales Strategy & Planning (SS&P), Category Development, and Business Units to align execution
  • Collaborate with Trade, Pricing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure flawless execution
  • Align internal stakeholders to customer strategies, priorities, and timelines
  • Monitor KPIs, 4Ps (Product, Price, Placement, Promotion), and distribution targets
  • Leverage consumer, category, and shopper insights to drive decision-making
  • Translate data into clear, actionable strategies for both internal teams and customers
  • Ensure consistency and discipline in reporting, planning, and execution
  • Achieve distribution and merchandising targets across all channels
  • Develop and execute efficient promotional strategies
  • Partner with Customer Development Insights to align plans with consumer behavior
  • Communicate business performance and opportunities clearly to internal and external stakeholders
