About The Position

The position involves leading and directing a food service team that includes cooks, cashiers, servers, ambassadors, clerks, and nutrition assistants. The primary responsibilities include ensuring the preparation and service of meals for patients, cafeteria, and special functions, while checking all meals for quality control and accuracy. The role requires ensuring timely delivery of meal services and demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and other employees, regardless of cultural background.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certification as a Food Service Manager in applicable states within two months of employment or promotion.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to direct and guide the work of others.
  • Six months of experience in foodservice and food preparation.
  • Customer service training and skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with therapeutic diets and diet knowledge.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • 1-2 years of experience in food service with some leadership involvement experience.
  • Ambassador experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct food service team including cooks, cashiers, servers, ambassadors, clerks, and nutrition assistants.
  • Check all meals for quality control and accuracy.
  • Ensure timely delivery of meal services.
  • Provide hands-on leadership in day-to-day operations in area of expertise.
  • Assign, monitor, and review task progress to facilitate accurate work.
  • Provide technical guidance on complex issues.
  • Perform all duties related to assembly and delivery of patient meals.
  • Assist with problem solving and provide instruction to team members.
  • Act as a positive example and assist in training new associates.
  • Inform management of overall performance of team members.
  • Assist with resourceful use of labor, supplies, and equipment to meet financial goals.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, sanitation, and security standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement studies and support action plans.
  • Monitor and maintain effective cash handling and accounting practices.
