Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Five years of experience in residential mortgage underwriting, including expertise in various loan products.
• Demonstrated knowledge of appraisal and underwriting processes, mortgage regulations, and risk management best practices.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with high attention to detail.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative leadership approach.
• Relevant certifications in FHA, VA, and USDA.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily underwriting pipeline to ensure efficient workflow and timely loan decisions.
• Assist with initial decision underwriting, resubmission underwriting, and adverse second-level reviews as needed.
• Handle escalated loan cases and complex scenarios, providing support to team members.
• Oversee the appraisal review process to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Support departmental projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams for process improvements.
• Guide and mentor the underwriting team, contributing to ongoing training initiatives.
• Conduct detailed scenario reviews to maintain compliance and mitigate risk.
• Engage with underwriting, processing, and sales teams to foster a collaborative work environment.
