About The Position

Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Team Lead to join the Medical Communications Sales team. This position is located in our New York office, with three days on-site (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and a team flex day) and two days remote. Job Overview: As a player-coach, reporting to the VP, Sales Director, you will be an individual contributor while also leading part of a high-performing business development team, driving strategic sales initiatives that shatter revenue targets. This pivotal role demands a seasoned leader with deep expertise in the dynamic healthcare and pharmaceutical marketing arena, a keen understanding of digital media and data-driven strategies, and a proven ability to forge and nurture lasting client relationships, both with agency partners and pharmaceutical brand teams. In addition to driving commercialization efforts for the core business, this individual will be looked to for insights on monetization opportunities for new products and platforms as the business expands. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in sales/sales leadership within the healthcare media or pharmaceutical marketing.
  • Demonstrated success in exceeding your sales targets and building a high-performing team.
  • Extensive knowledge of the healthcare marketing and digital media ecosystem.
  • Established network of contacts within the pharmaceutical, medical device, and healthcare agency
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Ability to travel, attend industry events over evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Empowerment: Manage, mentor, and motivate a dynamic team of business development professionals to surpass ambitious sales targets. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture through ongoing coaching and training, while ensuring accountability.
  • Sales Innovation & Execution: Develop and implement innovative sales strategies within your territory to exceed revenue goals. Identify and secure new business opportunities with pharmaceutical, medical device, and healthcare clients. Skillfully negotiate and close complex, high-value sales agreements.
  • Strategic Client Partnerships: Serve as a trusted advisor for your team while ensuring client satisfaction and cultivating long-term strategic partnerships with agency and pharma brand teams. Analyze market trends and competitive dynamics to inform and refine sales strategies. Deliver compelling presentations and proposals that align with client objectives.
  • Digital Transformation & Expertise: Leverage a deep understanding of digital marketing channels and strategies, including programmatic advertising, content marketing, and advanced data-driven/AI/next-best-action solutions. Stay ahead of the curve on emerging digital trends and technologies shaping the healthcare industry.
  • Strategic Expansion: Partner with leadership of the Medical Communications Group to identify new monetization opportunities within the core business as well as through new capabilities built or acquired. Deliver on strategic plans to expand the business through new products and new lines of business
  • Data-Driven Performance & Reporting: Accurately forecast revenue and manage sales pipelines, providing insightful reports to senior management. Analyze sales data to identify trends, optimize performance, and drive continuous improvement. Track and measure the effectiveness of sales initiatives with precision, while holding direct reports accountable for reaching goals.

  • The salary range for this position is $175,000–$200,000 plus variable compensation related to performance. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, skill level, functional and/or industry knowledge, education level, certifications, as well as other qualifications.
