About The Position

The Team Lead II supports the department supervisor and manager by overseeing daily operations and guiding team members to meet production goals. This role ensures tasks are completed in alignment with IWCO standards, customer specifications, and industry best practices. The Team Lead II also serves as a technical expert on key equipment and plays a vital role in maintaining operational efficiency and safety.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of electronics, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum pumps, and trim systems.
  • High mechanical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn and operate machinery.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and electrical diagnostics.
  • Skilled in using tools and techniques for equipment repair and fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with Foundation software is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and mathematical skills; ability to read and apply measurements.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and precision.
  • Capable of leading and mentoring others while making independent decisions.
  • High School graduate or equivalent required; trade school is a plus.
  • 2+ years’ manufacturing/production experience.
  • 5+ years’ equipment technician experience.
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience in a manufacturing capacity, preferably within the direct mail industry.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, rotating 3 or 4 days per week including weekend rotations.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 35 pounds; occasionally up to 65 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, pivot, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for up to 12 hours.
  • Upper extremity motion requirements: fine motor movements, pushing/pulling with arms, grasping and pinching.
  • Lower extremity motion requirements: reaching.
  • Pre-employment post-offer comprehensive assessment required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous participation on a safety team and/or other safety training a plus.
  • Lean manufacturing and/or quality control training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and direct tasks in accordance with customer requirements and production schedules.
  • Provide hands-on support to department personnel to achieve operational goals.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on at least two pieces of production equipment.
  • Perform complex repairs, set-ups, and rebuilds; fabricate parts for equipment upgrades.
  • Coordinate installation of new equipment and relocation of existing machinery.
  • Operate and maintain any and all groups of equipment; operate special equipment as necessary.
  • Modify and rebuild existing equipment to improve performance and reliability.
  • Communicate production updates during shift changes to ensure continuity.
  • Identify staffing needs and production issues; proactively resolve errors and escalate concerns.
  • Communicate safety guidelines to employees to ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor quality standards and verify adherence to proper procedures.
  • Reinforce safety guidelines and ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the manager on employee performance reviews and development.
  • Ensure employee acknowledgements for company policy updates are completed by staff.
  • Report non-compliance issues to the shift supervisor and assist in corrective action planning.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the department.
  • Support facility maintenance during off-hours, including HVAC, snow removal, and basic repairs.
  • Attend daily production meetings and coordinate with scheduling to prepare for upcoming jobs.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing and creative repair solutions.
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Coach, train, and mentor team members to support skill development and performance.
  • Perform other (or other related) duties as applicable or assigned.
