We are currently seeking a Team Lead - Fitting/Welding Department for 2nd Shift at our Burton, Michigan location. 2nd Shift hours are 5 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., Monday – Friday, with some overtime on weekends for production.

Requirements

  • Minimum: High School Diploma. Equivalent experience considered.
  • Prefer three to five (3-5) years of hands-on MIG welding experience in a small to medium size Manufacturing & Fabrication setting. Equivalent experience considered.
  • Prior experience in Structural MIG Welding and ability to read blueprints is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree/Vocational Certificate in Welding and Fabrication Engineering.
  • at least two (2) years of experience leading a welding or fabrication team.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and adjust daily team workflow to achieve production goals. Suggest improvements to work processes, equipment usage, and product quality.
  • Monitor team assignments to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to employees within the Fitting/Welding team.
  • Oversee daily activities of assigned team members, ensuring they have necessary materials, drawings, and tools to perform their duties effectively.
  • Promote safety and efficiency within the team. Educate team members on safety procedures, potential hazards, and proper precautions.
  • Recommend updates to work procedures to maximize the effectiveness of team members and equipment.
  • Inspect completed work and/or collaborate with the Weld Inspector to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Participate in team meetings and project discussions.
  • When not leading, employee will work with the team fitting and welding.
