Provides frontline, non‑supervisory leadership and operational support to Environmental Services (EVS) team members. This role supports daily operations, quality standards, and team communication while serving as a peer role model for safety, accountability, and professionalism. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent years of experience is preferred.
  • Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) credentialing is required for those newly hired or promoted into the position after October 5th, 2025. Incumbents hired after October 5th, 2025, will have 6 months to obtain the credential following their hire/promotional date.
  • Requires working knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and techniques, including handling of emergency spills and hazardous/infectious materials.
  • Requires proven experience supporting the execution of department programs, standards, or service protocols with minimal supervision.
  • Requires the ability to serve as an extension of leadership in upholding service reliability and compliance.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to follow and reinforce hospital policies, safety protocols, and cleanliness standards.
  • Requires strong communication skills with the ability to lead peer interactions and influence team performance.
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment and clothing in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting 50 lbs. or more, and wearing required PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Provide non‑supervisory leadership and daily frontline support to EVS team members
  • Assist with coordinating daily work assignments and coverage plans to ensure consistent service delivery
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members, reinforcing departmental standards and expectations
  • Conduct quality checks and performance audits; address issues in real time and escalate concerns as needed
  • Serve as a visible role model in high‑pressure, complex, or sensitive care areas, demonstrating attention to detail and professionalism
  • Lead or support team huddles, shift briefings, and ongoing communication across the EVS team
  • Support inventory management, supply readiness, and organization of equipment and materials
  • Promote a positive team culture through peer coaching, accountability, and adherence to EVS policies and procedures
