About The Position

The Medical Record EMR Quality Control Specialist is responsible for the orientation, training, quality and productivity monitoring of the Medical Record Clerks responsible for the implementation of the electronic medical record system. The EMR Quality Control Specialist will provide feedback to the clinical team to assure compliance with patient identifiers. The EMR Quality Control Specialist will perform ongoing quality reviews to assure that the electronic health record is maintained with the highest level of quality. Assists with trouble shooting system functionality, prepping, scanning, and indexing issues. Assists Manager of HIM with the system maintenance for ChartFax, ChartFact, ChartScan and ChartView. Assists with the monitoring and communicating of record receipt status. The EMR Quality Control Specialist will participate in the Forms Control Committee responsible for review and approval of forms utilized as part of the electronic medical record. The EMR Quality Control Specialist will assist in preparing medical records for scanning into our Virtual Medical Record. Take the lead in supporting Portal Calls from Patients and supporting them with access and how to use the platform. Performs duties in support of the Medical Center mission to ensure the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate, GED, RHIT preferred.
  • Must be detail orientated, with good verbal, written and computer communication skills, interpersonal and customer friendly skills, ability to operate PC-based software, familiarity with operating scanning software/equipment, understanding of the JC, DNV and DOH rules and regulations for record completion.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology is helpful.
  • Up to and including 1 year of experience in the medical field.
  • Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.
  • Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal instruction.
  • The individual must have the ability to organize multiple priorities and make independent decisions.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and ability to work with physicians and other healthcare providers with cooperation and flexibility to enhance patient care delivery by assuring timely and accurate access to medical records.
  • The team member has access to patient medical information, involved in ensuring the integrity of the legal medical record and must strictly uphold patient

  • RHIT preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology is helpful.
