The Food Services Team Lead is responsible for supporting daily food service operations, supervising staff, and ensuring high‑quality meal preparation and service. This role requires sustained physical activity, including being on your feet for up to eight hours per day, frequent bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 30 lbs independently (and up to 60 lbs with assistance). The position requires the ability to read and understand English for documenting temperatures, operating equipment, following recipes, and interpreting safety labels and chemical data sheets. Effective verbal and written communication with staff, patients, visitors, and physicians is essential for maintaining safety and service standards. Regular attendance, emotional stability, and the ability to adjust to shifting priorities are required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 1–3 years related experience preferred
  • Ability to read and understand English for documenting temperatures, operating equipment, following recipes, and interpreting safety labels and chemical data sheets.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with staff, patients, visitors, and physicians is essential for maintaining safety and service standards.
  • Regular attendance, emotional stability, and the ability to adjust to shifting priorities are required.
  • Apply basic math, reading, and writing skills for budgeting, pricing, and inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in managing food service operations, supervising staff, and coordinating daily activities.
  • Oversee food preparation and service, ensuring completion of production records and temperature logs.
  • Support personnel-related activities including screening, selection, training, and staff development.
  • Order, receive, and properly store food service products; follow all vendor procedures.
  • Conduct inventory, unit stock checks, and quality audits.
  • Assist in schedule preparation and time/attendance management; adjust staffing for call‑ins as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing Performance Improvement (PI) activities.
  • Apply basic math, reading, and writing skills for budgeting, pricing, and inventory.
  • Communicate and apply applicable standards (JCAHO, CMS, etc.).
  • Perform cross‑trained responsibilities within EVS as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
