About The Position

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Team Lead & Counter Sales has primary responsibility for keeping merchandise organized and ready to ship to customers and branch locations, as well as working with customers on quotes and orders, and receiving incoming merchandise from various sources, performing inventory counts and verifying contents against packing slips. The role involves working face-to-face and over phone and email with customers, providing a consultative approach to customer service, suggesting additional and alternative products, add-ons, and other support. It also requires coordinating with outside sales, operations, purchasing, and other departments to process orders. Key duties include receiving and inspecting incoming merchandise, sorting, organizing, and labeling stock, packing and unpacking items, assisting with intercompany transfers, reading pick tickets, loading trucks, moving completed orders, performing scheduled cycle counts, operating a forklift, and ensuring the warehouse is kept orderly and clean. The position may also involve occasionally moving company vehicles and motorized equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse or distribution center strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an inside or counter sales position, preferably within the construction industry, strongly preferred.
  • 1+ years’ experience in a lead warehouse, supervisory, or managerial role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work face-to-face and over phone and email with customers, providing a consultative approach to customer service, suggesting additional and alternative products, add-ons, and other support.
  • Coordinate with outside sales, operations, purchasing, and other departments to process orders.
  • Receive and inspect incoming merchandise to ensure that delivery matches packing slip and examine incoming stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisor or vendor.
  • Sort, organize, and label merchandise with appropriate stock/inventory control codes.
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves following a set of specific instructions or procedures.
  • Assist with intercompany transfer shipment of products as need to other Colony locations.
  • Read pick tickets, prioritizing most critical orders, and verify item picked matches the pick tickets.
  • Load truck with orders in an organized and specified sequence.
  • Move completed orders to appropriate shipment locations.
  • Perform scheduled cycle counts of product for inventory and enters data manually in computer through ERP system to ensure information is updated.
  • Operate forklift to lift or place merchandise in their appropriate locations on shelves.
  • Ensure that warehouse is kept orderly, organized, and clean during production and at the end of the shift.
  • Occasionally move company vehicles and motorized equipment (e.g., forklift).
  • Other duties as assigned.
