About Team Kentucky Internship Program The Team Kentucky Internship Program brings talented and motivated college students into the world of public service. The program provides meaningful and relevant work experience, professional development activities, and offers interns networking opportunities with other interns across the Commonwealth, all while working alongside program and field professionals, state government leaders. The Team Kentucky Internship Program is a prestigious and competitive program; therefore, interested applicants must complete an online application and be vetted through an interview process. Those selected for the program will perform valuable work in our state agencies. To be considered for a position in the Team Kentucky Internship Program, applicant must: Be enrolled at an accredited Kentucky post-secondary school or other educational institution approved by the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet. Be in good standing with the school with at least a 2.5 grade point average at hire. Graduating high school seniors enrolled in college courses with a 2.5 GPA may also qualify and apply to participate in the program. Candidates must be 18 years of age by May 15, 2026. Interested applicants must upload their unofficial transcript when applying to TKIP positions. A Day in the Life: An intern within our State Highway Engineer Office as a part of the Department of Highways could spend a day working on projects from leading innovative technology to researching engineering technology and programs utilized across the country.

• Must be 18 years of age at the time of employment.
• Must be enrolled on a full-time basis in high school as a graduating senior currently enrolled in college level courses OR a college-level student enrolled at an accredited Kentucky post-secondary school or other educational institutions approved by the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet.
• Applicants must furnish proof of enrollment in such a program to the Personnel Cabinet.
• Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
• Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Responsibilities

• Assist with updates and developing Python ETLs, support dashboard development in Power BO in an effort to enhance a public-facing website.
• Work with Excel, PowerBI, Tableau and scripting languages such as SQL, Python, or Javascript to analyze and report data.
• Develop documentation about business processes, develop a data catalog and other documentation.
• Gather and consolidate transportation data from Divisions across the agency.
• Analyze business practices and assist with developing a gap analysis to identify areas for improvement.
