About The Position

The Team Kentucky Internship Program brings talented and motivated college students into the world of public service. The program provides meaningful and relevant work experience, professional development activities, and offers interns networking opportunities with other interns across the Commonwealth, all while working alongside program and field professionals, state government leaders. The Team Kentucky Internship Program is a prestigious and competitive program; therefore, interested applicants must complete an online application and be vetted through an interview process. Those selected for the program will perform valuable work in our state agencies.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled at an accredited Kentucky post-secondary school or other educational institution approved by the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet.
  • Must be in good standing with the school with at least a 2.5 grade point average at hire.
  • Graduating high school seniors enrolled in college courses with a 2.5 GPA may also qualify and apply to participate in the program.
  • Candidates must be 18 years of age by May 15, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support and assistance in the professional licensing application process.
  • Assist records custodians with record retention and open records requests.
  • Attend professional licensing board meetings and assist with taking meeting notes, learning about Robert's Rules of Order.
  • Provide administrative support and assistance to DPL attorneys while learning about the application of administrative law.
  • Learn about a variety of professions and occupations from chiropractors to massage therapists to professional geologists, and more.
  • Interact with administrative specialist seniors, supervisors, the commissioner, along with DPL attorneys and board members.

Benefits

  • Undergraduate Student - $16.444 per hour
  • Graduate Student - $19.096 per hour
  • Additional compensation ($1/hour) for each year that interns return to the program.
