About The Position

The Team Chair/Case Manager is responsible for ensuring full compliance with state and federal special education regulations by coordinating and managing the annual IEP process for assigned students. This role focuses on the accurate preparation, facilitation, and completion of annual IEP meetings only and works closely with ETLs to maintain alignment with district procedures and timelines.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and MA special education regulations.
  • Prior experience chairing IEP meetings or managing special education compliance strongly preferred.
  • Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills with attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Special Education or related field preferred.
  • Current MA DESE licensure in Special Education or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and chair annual IEP meetings for assigned caseload; not responsible for initial evaluations or re-evaluations.
  • Ensure all aspects of the annual review process comply with IDEA and Massachusetts special education regulations.
  • Prepare for meetings by reviewing student data, prior IEPs, progress reports, and service delivery.
  • Facilitate meetings to ensure required team members are present, documentation is correct, and decisions follow procedural requirements.
  • Write, finalize, and submit high-quality IEPs that include compliant present levels, goals, accommodations, and service grids.
  • Track and maintain all mandated timelines and ensure accurate documentation in the district’s IEP management system.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding meeting notices, procedural safeguards, and follow-up requirements.
  • Collaborate with ETLs to ensure consistency in practice, compliance monitoring, and resolution of procedural questions.
  • Work with service providers and general educators to verify service delivery and accurate progress reporting.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready student records and support district compliance initiatives as needed.
