About The Position

This downtown Stuart hospital provides top-quality patient care to the communities in and around Martin County on the beautiful St. Lucie River. The caregivers at Martin North Hospital have made it an excellent medical facility and a home away from home. Martin North Hospital’s newly established Med/Surg unit on the 2nd floor of the South Tower is a 12-bed unit that cares for a wide range of patients with a variety of medical issues or who are preparing for or recovering from surgery. By joining this team as a Team Center Coordinator, you will provide top-quality customer service to patients, families and visitors to promote and support the best healthcare experience possible. You will perform various administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient operational flow within the unit while offering direct patient care under the supervision of an RN. This role offers you a unique opportunity to enhance both your management and nursing skills in a welcoming, encouraging environment. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 7:30PM or nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of recent, full-time experience in patient care or customer service OR additional education/training OR current nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1)
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call systems, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
  • Provide or assist with basic patient care activities, such as taking vital signs and weights, personal care, activities of daily living, patient transfers and transports, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, application of external monitoring devices, further technical skills of phlebotomy, clean dressing changes and 12-lead ECG’s.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to an RN.
