Topeka Public Schools Teaching/Training Education teacher assumes responsibility for providing learning experiences in Teaching/Training Education. The teacher disciplines and supervises students in a supportive and positive climate that develops in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet and exceed the State standards. The teacher is to maintain an organized, student-centered classroom with content-rich and standards-based lessons and activities, meet individual needs through the use of assessments and data, and use a variety of instructional strategies reflective of current best practices and research. The Teaching/Training Education Pathway curriculum includes, but is not limited to: Teaching as a Career, Teaching Observation, and Teaching Internship. This position will guide students through the Teaching/Training Pathway. Achieving academic excellence will require that the teacher work collaboratively with other members of the school staff, parents, administrators, and staff in all district buildings and post-secondary education programs.
