About The Position

The Teaching & Learning Intern at Duke University Libraries supports teaching and learning initiatives, collaborating with staff to enhance programs for undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty. Requirements

  • Completed a bachelor's degree and currently enrolled in or a recent graduate from an accredited advanced degree program.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in teaching and learning activities across the Libraries to create lesson plans, learning outcomes, and research guides.
  • Promotes teaching and learning services through special programs, blog posts, and resource guides.
  • Investigates the implications of generative AI for undergraduate learning and recommends strategies for integration into library instruction.
  • Assesses current offerings and recommends instructional workshops to increase outreach to graduate students and early career research fellows.
  • Assists subject librarians with library instruction that aligns with the new undergraduate curriculum and fosters critical thinking skills.
  • Integrates diverse resources into Writing 101 instruction to encourage learners to evaluate different points of view.
  • Designs and implements outreach connected to the QuadEx residential program.
  • Supports Research and Public Services operations and special projects, including service desk coverage.

Benefits

  • $18.00 per hour pay rate.
  • Flexible working hours within a M-F, 8:30-5:00 work week.
