Teaching Associate (TA) for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry ( Dept. Webpage ) College of Science and Mathematics Position Overview: The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry seeks graduate students as Teaching Associate applicants. Teaching Associates typically are responsible for providing laboratory instruction for general education courses. Eligibility is determined by successful TA eligibility , department eligibility, and adequate funding. The department is seeking TA applicants for sections of CHEM 1A lab and CHEM 3A lab. TAs will teach sections of CHEM 1A lab or CHEM 3A lab the following semester and could have opportunities to teach other beginning courses in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department. The department reserves the right to choose the most qualified candidate for each position and to assign TAs to the courses that are appropriate for the department program and curriculum in any given semester. Due to staff and curriculum changes, courses offered may vary, and no guarantee of employment from semester to semester can be made. Anticipated Appointment Dates : This position is open until filled. If you have applied and no other positions are available, you will be notified. Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026; Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027 Hours/Units per week : Students can work up to 20-hours per week; 1-unit is equivalent to 2.66 hours per week (40hrs x 1-unit/15-unit) The typical range for labs is between 1.3-wtus - 5.2-wtus (dependent on courses and number of section(s) assigned) No more than 7.5-units
