About The Position

The Teaching Assistants in Special Education at Fayetteville-Manlius School District are responsible for providing instructional support to students under the supervision of certified teachers. Requirements

• Teaching Assistant Certification through NYS Department of Education is required (or pending certification to be attained within 45 days of hire).
• Ability to establish positive relationships with staff, students, and parents.
• Ability to multitask and be flexible in a busy setting.
• Ability to effectively manage students in high-activity settings while ensuring their safety and personal well-being.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or groups of students on instructional projects.
• Provide the teacher with information about students to assist in developing appropriate learning and behavioral experiences.
• Assist students in using available instructional resources and in developing instructional materials.
• Utilize special skills in instructional programs in areas such as art, music, family and consumer science, physical education, and technology.
• Assist in related instructional work as required.
• Supervise students during playground and cafeteria activities.
• Assist students with specific health-related activities, including toileting.
• Lift students when needed and push students in assistive devices.

Benefits

• Competitive hourly rate of $28.54/hour.
• Regular working hours from 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., Monday to Friday.
