Teaching Assistant
About The Position
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Engage in classroom activities ensuring to support students to ensure a positive experience. Assist the Teaching Artist in ensuring student success in curriculum. Assist with accommodating, modifying, and supporting students for individualized success. Assist with classroom set-up/clean-up as directed by the Education full-time staff and Teaching Artists. Work with volunteers, teaching assistants, Education Apprentices, Teaching Artists, and other Education Staff to ensure proper oversight of students. Observing the two-person rule, ensure that students are given bathroom breaks and/or changing needs are met. Supporting students by ensuring classroom supplies and materials needed are readily accessible. Assist in directing Providing guidance to volunteers. Encourage social interactions between students, camp staff, and volunteers. Other Duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Creative, collaborative, and enthusiastic approach
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability and commitment to working with diverse groups in terms of gender expression, race, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, class and immigrant status.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in theatre arts preferred
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities a plus
