Long Term Sub - Teaching Assistant Grades K - 5
About The Position

Role Purpose Serve as a positive, encouraging partner to K-5 grade-level teachers, fostering an environment where every student feels valued and supported. Provide the flexibility and extra attention needed to help individual learners thrive and ensure a safe, joyful atmosphere across the Lower School setting. Logistics Current need is for a temporary replacement Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:20 am - 3:20 pm; determining our need for support on a week-by-week basis Long term need is to stay on as a Teaching Assistant Substitute, performing as a Teaching Assistant throughout the year in grades K-5 The hourly wage ($17 - 21 per hour) will be determined by our Human Resource Director based on education and experience.
Requirements
- 1-3 years classroom experience as a Teaching Aide or Teacher
- 1-2 positive references from prior positions in school settings
- Experience handling protected information per privacy laws
- Strong people skills to interact with children, parents and staff
- Strong ability to be flexible and anticipate needs of students
- Comfortable as a team player, supporting teacher decisions and direction
Nice To Haves
- Education degree preferred, but not required
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide student support and foster student growth
- Assess students using in-house assessments, leveling systems, and STAR tests
- Meet with guided reading groups, literacy circles, or book clubs
- Provide enriched literacy experiences
- Deliver and monitor daily math facts work, collect data
- Facilitate small groups with skill development
- Assist in preparation and/or delivery of lessons
- Assist in day-to-day classroom operations
- Provide supervision during one Lower School lunch period
- Additional duties may be available before or after the standard hours.
