About The Position

Requirements

• Minimum of an Associate's Degree preferred
• Must have a NYS Teaching Assistant Certificate
• Minimum of 1-2 years previous experience working with special needs children in a special education setting
• Experience with children with developmental disabilities and ability to communicate and relate to their challenges
• Ability to provide 3 references from former employers, teachers or professional sources

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals or small groups of students with instruction
• Help support teacher with classroom management
• Develop class materials and help assign tasks
• Monitor students' progress during tests and class assignments
