Teaching Assistant (TA) - High School
About The Position
The Katherine Thomas High School Program, in Rockville, MD, serves students in grades 9-12 with language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTHS has an opportunity for a temporary Special Education High School Teaching Assistant (TA) with one to one responsibilities. We address the individual needs of each student to facilitate success at home, school, and in the community. Work hours are 7:30 am to 3:15 pm M - F. EOE Hourly Rate of $19- $25/hour, DOE Be a part of a supportive team with friendly staff and help to make a difference in someone's life. Temporary with the possibility of becoming regular/full-time.
Requirements
- MUST have a Bachelors Degree
- Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
Nice To Haves
- Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred
- Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and regulation techniques helpful
Responsibilities
- Support the student with academics, regulation, and behavior in and out of the classroom
- Implement and strictly follow the student's Behavior Plan
- Assist and monitor the student under the Special Education Teacher's supervision and direction
- Create a supportive learning environment
- Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports
