About The Position

Student teaching assistants will assist the Clinical faculty of the School of Podiatric Medicine in labs in the Radiology Laboratory. Teaching Assistants should be 4th-year Podiatry students who have demonstrated high academic performance (at least a 3.0 GPA in the Radiology Course and Lab.). In the laboratory, the Teaching Assistant will assist students with radiographic image interpretation, equipment operation, and radiation safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in the School of Podiatric Medicine as a 4th-year student
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 in Radiology and Radiology Lab courses with demonstrated competency in radiographic interpretation and radiation safety.
  • Ability to accurately identify anatomical structures, normal variants, and common pathological findings on radiographic images.
  • Must possess strong foundational radiology knowledge consistent with a high-performing 4th-year podiatric medical student.
  • Skill in operating standard radiology laboratory equipment, including image acquisition tools, positioning devices, and software systems, with the ability to provide hands-on guidance to junior students.
  • Thorough understanding of radiation safety principles, protective measures, and regulatory protocols, with the ability to model and communicate best practices to maintain a safe lab environment.
  • Ability to clearly explain radiographic concepts, answer student questions, and provide step-by-step guidance. Must demonstrate patience, clarity, and effective peer teaching techniques.
  • Competence in administering laboratory practicals, monitoring student performance, and ensuring academic integrity during exams and image identification assessments
  • Ability to maintain orderly teaching materials, manage image libraries, and uphold the cleanliness and operational readiness of the radiology laboratory and equipment

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in identifying anatomical structures and pathological findings on radiographic images
  • Help student groups during lab with questions about radiographic positioning, image quality, and interpretation
  • Guide students through proper operation of radiographic equipment and adherence to radiation safety protocols
  • Proctor radiology laboratory practical exams and image identification assessments
  • Assist faculty in preparing radiographic teaching materials and organizing image libraries.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the radiology laboratory and imaging equipment.
