About The Position

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking candidates for two positions: one Teaching Assistant Professor and one Teaching Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics. The mission of the Department is to extend the frontiers of mathematical knowledge and its applications, disseminate that knowledge, and train the next generation of teachers and researchers. The successful candidates will be expected to teach and design undergraduate math courses, including those in the calculus sequence, in a large-enrollment setting. They will also serve as course coordinators, manage a team of faculty and graduate student TAs, perform administrative duties, and collaborate with other faculty members.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in mathematics, math education, or a closely related field.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated knowledge of scholarship in science teaching and learning.
• Experience teaching at the college level.
• Experience in curriculum design.

Responsibilities

• Teach and design undergraduate math courses, including calculus.
• Serve as course coordinator managing faculty and graduate student TAs.

• Manage placement testing and supervise undergraduate classroom assistants.
• Collaborate with faculty members on teaching efforts.
