About The Position

The Department of Mathematical Sciences in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for non-tenure track Teaching Assistant Professors to start in August 2026. There are three positions available. These are standard nine-month faculty appointments for one-year appointments with the potential for annual reappointment. We seek candidates for positions which entail designing undergraduate courses, developing and implementing new methods of teaching to reflect changes in the field, providing curriculum material, constructing syllabi, leading classroom instruction, writing and administering exams, mentoring and evaluating students, creating interest and understanding among students, serving on various faculty- and student-oriented committees, providing service on campus and in related professional organizations, participating in faculty governance in the department and on campus, and engaging in creative and/or scholarly activities. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Terminal degree in Mathematics (Pure/Applied), Statistics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the date of initial appointment
  • A demonstrated record of exceptional teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate level with at least one year of experience teaching as an instructor of record at the University level
  • Evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, scholarly/creative activity which may include, but is not limited to, publications, conference presentations, and workshop organization

  • Demonstrated experience teaching a range of courses across the math curriculum
  • Demonstrated ability to develop/revise courses at the university level
  • Experience with coordinating/supervising multi-section courses at the university level
  • Evidence of university related or professional service
