About The Position

Provides for-credit instruction in the Department of Education through classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including the evaluation and grading of student work. Serves as an instructor of record. Advises students, facilitates course assessment, and may supervise student employees. Develops a program of scholarly work that informs or contributes to teaching and learning. Provides service as a contributing member of the department and a participant in university and professional service. Key Job Responsibilities: Develops and designs curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instruction Contributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unit Contributes to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentations Collaborates with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline May supervise student employees involved in development or delivery of instruction Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including assessment of student performance Advises students on academic and career direction within a specific field of study

Requirements

Master’s degree or higher with at least one degree in curriculum and instruction, elementary education, early childhood, early childhood special education or a related field.
Minimum of three years of licensed teaching experience in a Preschool-Grade 3 school setting, in Preschool-Grade 12 U.S. schools or U.S.-based schools (IE U.S curriculum or International American schools teaching in English).
Active engagement in professional practice with Birth-grade 12 schools and childcare centers, professional organizations, and/or other education-related endeavors at the local, state, or national level.
Candidates must be independently, legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain their work authorization without the support or help of UW-Superior throughout employment.

Experience with university-level teaching in teacher preparation programs, including online instruction.
Experience collaborating with Birth-grade 12 schools for field placements, clinical placements, or residencies.

Responsibilities

Teach 12 credits per semester in early childhood and elementary education courses on campus and online.
Advise and mentor students in the Elementary Education Birth to Grade 3 License Program.
Contributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the Department of Education.
Develops and designs curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instruction.
Provide an on-campus presence to meet with and to serve students, and to work with colleagues in the department and across campus to fulfill service roles.
Collaborates with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline and with local educational institutions and programs including Birth- Grade 12 schools and childcare centers to affirm partnerships.
Contributes to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentations.
Engage in program, departmental, university, and community service.
Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
