The Environment, Energy and Ecology Program (E3P) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Teaching Assistant Professor for a non-tenure track position. This role focuses on teaching courses related to energy or biotech agricultural technologies and global food security. The position is designed for candidates who can engage students at all undergraduate levels and includes a 3-course load per semester, with opportunities for experiential instruction and community engagement.

  • Teach courses in energy or biotech focused agricultural technologies and global food security.
  • Provide a general overview of the US electricity system, covering generation, transmission, distribution, and storage.
  • Teach the use of biologicals in agriculture or alternative proteins and their contributions to global food security.
  • Manage a client-based capstone course involving approximately 20 seniors.
  • Advise E3P majors and support their academic progress.
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field preferred; exceptional candidates with a master's degree in engineering, biotechnology, business administration, or public administration will be considered.
  • Ability to teach at all undergraduate levels, including introductory and upper-level courses.
  • Experience in experiential instruction and community engagement.
  • Interest in building a focus area around environmental applications of biotechnology.
  • Competitive salary based on UNC faculty salary scale.
  • Renewable appointment after initial 3 years.
