About The Position

The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University seeks applications and nominations for a Teaching Assistant Professor in the field of Computer Science and Cybersecurity. The appointment shall be in the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. The general area of interest for this search is programming, data structures and algorithms, operating systems, databases, computer networks, software engineering, theory of computation, compiler design, computer organization, cybersecurity fundamentals, cryptography, ethical hacking, penetration testing, cyber defense, computer incidence response, and hands-on exercise for cybersecurity competitions. Expertise in hands-on lab support, including virtual machines, sandbox environments, cyber-range, simulation tools, and secure network setups to provide students with practical experience is critical for this position.

Requirements

• Ph.D. degree in computer science, cybersecurity or a closely related field by the time of hire.
• Proven track record of teaching experience or potential to develop graduate level courses.
• Outstanding technical expertise in the field of Computer Science and Cybersecurity.

Nice To Haves

• Equivalent experience in the private sector or national laboratories/institutes.
• Experience with online teaching and curriculum development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach graduate level courses in Computer Science and Cybersecurity.
• Utilize learning management systems (LMS) platforms such as Blackboard and Coursera for online instruction.
• Provide hands-on lab support for students, including the use of virtual machines and secure network setups.
• Engage in curriculum development and contribute to the teaching mission of the Lane Department.
• Collaborate with industry partners and other collaborators to enhance student learning experiences.
