About The Position

The Department of Music at the University of North Dakota (UND) is seeking a full-time, benefited, 9-month, Teaching Assistant Professor/Clinical Coordinator of Music Therapy. This position begins August 16, 2026, and is contingent upon availability of funding. The mission of the UND Department of Music is to inspire our students and community through education, performance, scholarship, and human relationships in music. The professional and liberal arts degrees of the Department of Music provide rigorous courses of study that cultivate the highest degree of artistry, innovative teaching, professionalism, and critical inquiry. Requirements

  • A master's degree in music therapy completed by Aug. 15, 2026.
  • Three years of music therapy clinical practice (or equivalent to part-time employment).
  • Current Board Certification by CBMT.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing clinical supervision for music therapy.
  • Experience teaching music therapy courses at the college level.
  • Experience providing music therapy with a wide variety of populations.
  • Four or more years of music therapy clinical practice (or equivalent in part-time employment).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and build relationships with practicum locations as the Clinical Coordinator of Music Therapy.
  • Accompany students to their clinical placements and provide practicum supervision, including leading sessions and providing feedback.
  • Teach courses in the music therapy curriculum with an emphasis on Music Therapy Practicum I-IV.
  • Contribute to service within the department, college, university, and community.
  • Participate in the department's recruitment and outreach initiatives.
