Teaching Assistant - Physical Chemistry Lab
About The Position
The physical chemistry ( CHM 372) lab TA will report to the instructor of the course and assist the instructor with instructional duties during the lab period. The assigned laboratory location is SWI 343. The approximate hours will be 3.5 per week (~49 hour each semester) and the pay rate is the current Portland Metro minimum wage. The course instructor will inform the TA of performance expectations and any performance deficiencies on an on-going basis. A TA who is not performing to the communicated expectations may be dismissed and replaced with another qualified applicant any time during the semester for which they are hired.
Requirements
- The TA must have successfully completed, with a grade of B or higher, the course that they are the TA for.
- The TA must be able to help the students with the experimental procedures and concepts, but must not tell students everything they need to do or do the work for them.
- The TA should know the concepts covered in the course and how to help others master the material.
- The TA should have good people skills.
