About The Position

Avon Public Schools is seeking a Teaching Assistant for both part-time and full-time positions. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team and will be responsible for providing assistance to students under the direction of a certified teacher. This role requires a strong understanding of teaching reading at the primary level and the ability to work within a tight schedule while remaining highly organized.

Requirements

• Proper Connecticut teaching certification (Elementary Education) preferred
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of teaching reading at the primary level
• Ability to work within a tight schedule and remain highly organized
• Experience in reading and mathematics remediation preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to students under the direction of a certified teacher
• Conduct small group instruction
• Manage student behavior
• Collect data on student progress
• Prepare lesson materials
• Co-teach with certified teachers
