About The Position

Attack Theatre is seeking Teaching Artists for its summer programming, who will report directly to the Community Programs and Outreach Manager. The ideal candidates must be reliable, organized, and comfortable working with children in various formats including in-person, virtual, and/or hybrid settings. The specific logistics of the position will vary depending on the arts education program and will be discussed upon hire. Attack Theatre is a Pittsburgh-based dance company dedicated to creating work that merges art and community, offering programs that are personal, authentic, welcoming, and fearless. The company, under the artistic direction of Co-Founders Peter Kope and Michele de la Reza, is committed to curiosity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and connecting with local and global communities through accessible, creative learning opportunities. Their new facility in Lawrenceville serves as a hub for performances, classes, and community events, aiming to be an inclusive center for dance, learning, and partnerships. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older with required Pennsylvania State Clearances (Act 33/34, PA Criminal Records Check and Federal Criminal Background Check)
  • Prior teaching experience and/or work with kids
  • Knowledge of the arts, specifically dance or movement
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Understanding of and commitment to the work of Attack Theatre and/or arts education
  • Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and able to provide proof of vaccination before hire

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative movement lesson plans that align with specific program expectations
  • Manage classroom behaviors and structures
  • Coordinate and adjust schedules with teacher/site-coordinator
  • Prepare in-person or virtual teaching space with necessary materials in a timely manner
  • Conduct classes and workshops
  • Execute pre- and post-assessments as needed
  • Participate in planning meetings with Community Programs and Outreach Manager and/or educational provider
