We’re excited to offer a variety of employment opportunities this summer for our Outreach Short Courses! Join our team and help make this summer a memorable and impactful experience for our students! Both full-time and part-time temporary positions are available, with flexible shifts and dates from June to August 2026. Outreach Short Courses aim to offer students ages 12-22, who are blind or visually impaired the opportunity to participate in a variety of academic, social, and recreational activities while receiving instruction in critical areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC). Participants reside in dormitory-style living for the duration of the program and are responsible for managing their independent living routines, personal space, meal preparation, and other elements involved in living with a group. These courses provide a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment in which students are challenged to develop new skills, build positive peer relationships, and develop confidence through experiences. Both full-time and part-time roles available. Flexible shifts and dates available between June - Aug 2025 ACRL JOB DESCRIPTION: Staff members provide instruction, supervision, and support services in their area of expertise for individuals or groups of mainstream students who are blind, visually impaired, and who have multiple impairments.
Responsibilities
- Lesson plan development and material/resource gathering in advance of the program.
- Work with students on campus, at job sites, in classes, at meals, and in the community.
- Attendance at regular staff meetings to be held after classes end.
- Attendance at staff orientation training and student orientation. (Prior to Programs)
- Attendance at cottage/program cleanup, and final staff meeting.
- Reports and/or checklists must be written prior to the program’s conclusion and will require additional meeting time.
