About the position

The position involves providing care and support to children in a nurturing and safe environment. Caregivers are expected to relate positively to children and parents, demonstrating emotional maturity and stability. They must handle crisis situations with good judgment and maintain personal hygiene and physical stamina. Caregivers will be responsible for meeting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs of children, while also supporting the head teacher in program development and maintaining a safe and engaging environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, positive, loving, and nurturing environment for children.
  • Meet children's needs in all areas: physical, emotional, social, and intellectual.
  • Assist the head teacher with new ideas for the program.
  • Implement appropriate and positive discipline as established by the head teacher.
  • Build a supportive team environment.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, inviting, and stimulating environment.
  • Be polite, sensitive, and responsive to children and parents.
  • Attend workshops and in-service training.
  • Engage and encourage children in daily activities.
  • Promote integral learning and good social skills.
  • Project a positive role model image to children, parents, and staff.

Requirements

  • Ability to relate positively and sensitively to children and parents.
  • Emotional maturity and stability to be a positive role model.
  • Sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations.
  • Good personal hygiene and physical stamina.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Reading skills to understand emergency information, prescription labels, first aid directives, menus, medical information, special dietary information, and intake information on children.
  • Writing skills to document accident reports, medication administration, diapering and feeding information, and developmental progress of children.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with children in a childcare setting.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Previous training in child development or early childhood education.
