Requirements

  • Valid state department of education license/certificate appropriate for the position.
  • Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test).

  • Keeps current with advances in technology and workplace innovations that enhance productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with staff to identify effective assistance strategies for each student.
  • Prepares the classroom or designated area for instruction and schedules individual/small group sessions.
  • Teaches assigned students and administers diagnostic tests.
  • Interprets test results and reviews intervention strategies with classroom teachers.
  • Serves as a building/district resource for remedial learning activities.
  • Ensures district policies/procedures support non-biased assessment and planning activities.
  • Develops and implements protocols to safeguard student assessment results.
  • Promotes effective communications and assistance, using problem-solving techniques to address concerns.
  • Upholds board policies and follows administrative guidelines/procedures.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of subject matter and organizes appropriate content and learning goals.
  • Develops lesson plans that align with state standards and district curriculum goals.
  • Evaluates the academic needs of students and develops engaging educational experiences.
  • Varies instructional techniques to address diverse student learning styles.
  • Communicates expectations and provides guidance to students and parents.
  • Uses assessment strategies to manage student learning and monitor progress.
  • Helps students identify and utilize supplemental instructional/media resources.
  • Encourages self-reliance, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and creativity in students.
  • Facilitates community partnerships and school-sponsored activities that enhance student learning.
  • Maintains a positive learning environment and plans collaborative student learning activities.
  • Evaluates student achievement and prepares progress reports.
