About The Position

The Children's Home partners with children, families and communities throughout New York State to inspire hope, develop skills, and cultivate healthy relationships for positive futures. $45,000.00 - $58,000.00 annually $2000 Sign on bonus Full Time and Part Time opportunities available Considering all applications, but have an elementary position that is urgent to fill Position Summary: Classroom and special area teachers deliver direct instruction in their assigned curriculum areas, aligned with New York State Learning Standards and tailored to the individual strengths and challenges of each student. In their classrooms, teachers create a highly structured, safe, and therapeutic environment that promotes cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, giving each student the opportunity to achieve success.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required
2 years of teaching experience required
NYS Teacher Certification preferred
Certification in Special Education preferred
Candidates must acquire NYS Teacher Certification within 1 year of employment

Responsibilities

Establish and maintain a positive relationship with students and colleagues
Create and implement lesson plans in accordance with New York State Learning Standards.
Ensure the instructional needs of each individual student are met in accordance with the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Accommodation Plan
Create necessary planning documents as prescribed by specific program guidelines based upon formal and informal assessment of students' strengths and challenges
Complete required reports and documentation on time
Attend all required training and development
