Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree
  • Arizona Elementary or Secondary Certification
  • Provisional SEI or full Bilingual or ESL endorsement

  • International Baccalaureate MYP teaching experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Establish a positive classroom environment and foster positive student conduct in accordance with the philosophy, values and disciplinary approach of the school
  • Match learning to the differing educational needs and learning styles of individuals in the classes assigned.
  • Develop and implement an engaging 6th grade Introduction to MYP Design curriculum, explicitly integrating the design cycle process, MYP Learner Profiles, and collaboration into units
  • Design and deliver a comprehensive MYP Design curriculum for 7th and 8th grade students, providing opportunities for students to work with real-world clients or solving real-world problems through project-based learning, incorporating client feedback into the IB design cycle process and emphasizing the importance of empathy, cultural awareness, and ethics
  • Design and implement a range of authentic formative and summative assessments, providing appropriate and timely feedback to students.
  • Enable students to develop strategies for creative and critical thinking to solve design problems.
  • Develop student skills of inquiry and problem solving.
  • Prepare and Deliver IB Design units utilizing the IB Design Cycle.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver interdisciplinary units.
  • Foster students approaches to learning (ATL) skills that lead to success and enjoyment in the MYP projects.
  • Use relevant technology to enhance instruction and learning.
  • Communicate with parents and the school counselor on pupil progress.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district or school IB requirements and/or self-selected professional growth activities and collaborate with colleagues as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress for the purposes of teaching, learning, and reporting
  • Participate in school and district meetings, committees and workshops as appropriate
  • Apply knowledge of state and district policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
