About The Position

Teachers promote and advance the social, emotional, physical, linguistic, and cognitive development and learning of infants and toddlers. Teachers are expected to provide a successful, safe, and supervised educational setting in the classroom and outdoor play areas; develop individual goals for children, provide on-going assessment on progress and facilitate transition into educational setting. Teachers encourage parent engagement in the development and growth of their child. In addition, teachers are expected to complete a professional development plan that may include university credentials. The ideal candidate for our program is: * A self-motivated and dedicated person who is excited and passionate about helping infants, toddlers, and families grow in development and in education. * You are a personable, energetic, and empathetic leader who can manage multiple staff, managers, and multiple projects in a prior project in a prioritized manner to meet our internal Urban Strategies goals of all current Head Start Performance Standards.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in Child Development with Infant and Toddler Development
  • Minimum two (2) years of successful experience as an infant/toddler teacher or caregiver - 12 grades.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Florida State Teacher Certification
  • Must be certified in teaching English as a Second Language or Teaching English to Speaker of other Languages.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, holidays, and weekends.
  • Able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors.
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License, Personal Vehicle, and Liability Insurance required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education models and standards.
  • Bachelors degree in the field of Education, Kinesiology, Elementary/ Early Childhood Education.
  • Master’s degree in Education

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct education formation to one cohort of youth.
  • Maintain sensitivity to the culture of each youth.
  • Focus educational interventions on the initial outcomes of educational assessment conducted when each youth is admitted to the program.
  • Attend and monitor education field trips.
  • Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
  • Upon request, this role may be required to travel with UAC, 14 and under, to locations in the United States.
  • Other duties as assigned.
