About The Position

The Teacher I - noncertified at Southwest Key Programs is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum tailored to students with diverse academic competencies and backgrounds. This role focuses on creating a positive learning environment, delivering instruction across core subjects, and promoting students' developmental growth. The teacher will work under the supervision of a Certified Teacher II and will be involved in various educational activities and events to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with youth in a bilingual setting preferred.
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Cleared Tuberculosis test results and background check required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment to ensure a positive learning experience.
  • Organize and prepare materials for daily instruction, including textbooks and equipment.
  • Utilize the SWK adopted curriculum to ensure compliance with National Academic Standards.
  • Individualize lesson plans to meet each student's academic level.
  • Assist with the coordination of Physical Education instruction to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Develop Individualized Educational Plans to document students' developmental progress.
  • Use effective instructional strategies to meet the academic needs of students.
  • Provide vocational courses that introduce youth to career choices.
  • Maintain a record of students' academic progress for report cards.
  • Meet departmental and program deadlines for reporting requirements.
  • Assist with the development of the Educational Domain Service Plan as required by funding sources.
  • Attend required trainings and professional development sessions.
  • Plan and coordinate special educational events and activities for students.
  • Assist in the evacuation of youth during emergencies or unforeseen occurrences.
  • Collaborate with local ISD to promote effective partnerships.
