About The Position
As a part-time Instructor at Sylvan Learning Center, your primary role will be to teach and inspire students in a supportive and engaging environment. You will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and provided with the necessary tools to deliver personalized instruction in various subjects, including Reading, Math, Writing, Study Skills, and SAT/ACT Prep. The focus is on creating a fun and interactive learning experience without the burden of lesson planning or preparation. You will work with students in small groups, adapting lessons to meet their individual skill levels and learning paces, ensuring that each student is challenged appropriately while also enjoying the learning process. Your responsibilities will include delivering quality education through Sylvan-based programs and personalized learning plans, utilizing technology such as iPads to enhance the learning experience. You will supervise and motivate students during instruction, providing them with instant feedback and recognition to help build their confidence and independence. Establishing a positive rapport with students and maintaining an enthusiastic attitude towards teaching are essential components of this role. The position is designed for individuals who are passionate about education and want to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children. This role is ideal for those who are currently enrolled in an Alternative Certification Program, have teaching experience that does not require certification, or are education majors in their sophomore year or higher. A Bachelor's degree and state-level teaching certification are preferred but not mandatory. The work schedule is flexible, allowing you to choose the number of hours you wish to work, primarily during after-school hours and Saturday mornings. After six months of employment, you will also have the opportunity to earn free Sylvan sessions for your dependent children, making this a rewarding position both personally and professionally.
