About The Position

As a Teacher-Trainee, you will gain hands-on classroom experience in an inclusive school setting, where students of all abilities learn together. This full-time internship is designed for education majors beginning their official internship period at their college or university. Under the guidance of a mentor teacher, you will support differentiated instruction, assist in fostering an inclusive classroom culture, and implement strategies to meet diverse student needs. This role provides a supportive environment to apply coursework knowledge, develop instructional skills, and gain real-world teaching experience in an inclusive setting. This paid position offers valuable classroom experience while supporting completion of your university degree.

Requirements

3 years of college related credit.
Enrolled in the final year of college teacher prep program.

Nice To Haves

Prefer experience working with students with and without disabilities in a multi-disciplinary setting through employment or service learning.

Responsibilities

Assist in planning and delivering differentiated lessons that support diverse learning needs.
Foster a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment that values student diversity.
Support universal design for learning (UDL) principles and inclusive instructional practices.
Work with small groups and individual students, including those with disabilities, to reinforce learning objectives.
Observe and implement evidence-based strategies for academic and behavioral support.
Assist in classroom management, providing proactive support to ensure student engagement.
Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and co-teaching experiences.
Collaborate with general education and ESE teachers, therapists, and support staff to promote inclusive education best practices.
Ensure compliance with procedures, requirements and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
