About The Position

The role provides special education consultation and instruction to meet the needs of eligible students with disabilities. The individual will communicate with campus staff, district special education staff, and parents/guardians regarding student needs, including ARD paperwork, IEPs, BIPs, and general progress. The position requires effective collaboration with general education teachers and related service staff to develop instructional programs and ensure appropriate education for eligible students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Valid Texas certificate in appropriate area.
  • Ability to work effectively between the school and community.
  • Effective written & verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual certification required for respective positions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare documents and attend ARD/IEP meetings for students eligible for special education.
  • Complete local, state and federal paperwork required for program participation.
  • Develop instructional programs for eligible students to achieve mastery of the essential knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with regular education teachers and related service staff to develop PLAAFP and annual goals/objectives for IEPs.
  • Administer criterion referenced testing.
  • Keep current and apply state of the art educational practices.
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers and administrators to oversee the responsibilities of the paraprofessional.
  • Collect & maintain data related to student progress.
  • Report progress on IEP goals/objectives at the conclusion of each grading period.
  • Provide appropriate behavior management techniques for eligible students.
  • Complete State Assessment requirements for eligible students.
  • Communicate regularly with general education and parents/guardians regarding student progress/needs/concerns.
  • Implement federal, state, and district guidelines regarding supports to students with disabilities.
  • Maintain confidential student records.
  • Attend district required and job specific trainings & staff development.
  • Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
