About The Position

Provides special education consultation and instruction to meet the need of eligible students with disabilities. Communicate with campus staff, district special education staff, and parents/guardians information pertaining to student needs (such as but not exclusively: ARD paperwork, IEP’s, BIP’ and general progress)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Valid Texas certificate in appropriate area
  • Ability to work effectively between the school and community
  • Effective written & verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual certification required for respective positions

Responsibilities

  • Prepare documents and attend ARD/IEP meetings for students eligible for special education.
  • Complete local, state and federal paperwork required for program participation.
  • Develop instructional programs for eligible students to achieve mastery of the essential knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with regular education teachers and related service staff to develop PLAAFP and annual goals/objectives for IEPs and to assist in providing an appropriate education for eligible students.
  • Administer criterion referenced testing.
  • Keep current and be willing to apply the state of the art educational practices.
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers and administrators to oversee the responsibilities of the paraprofessional in implementing student programs, to include training in regards to data collection and implementation of specific instructional strategies.
  • Collect & maintain data related to student progress.
  • Report progress on IEP goals/objectives at the conclusion of each grading period.
  • Provide appropriate behavior management techniques for eligible students.
  • Complete State Assessment requirements for eligible students.
  • Communicate regularly w general education and parents/guardians regarding student progress/needs/concerns.
  • Implement federal, state, and district guidelines regarding determining and providing supports to students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
  • Maintain confidential student records.
  • Attend district required and job specific trainings & staff development (i.e., training on Autism, content specific trainings, structured settings, etc.).
