About The Position

The Teacher, Special Education Resource / Inclusion is responsible for facilitating the teaching and learning process within a positive learning environment, whether in-person, distance, or virtual. The goal is to help students acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become responsible, contributing adults in a democratic society.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate or appropriate out-of-state teaching certificate.
  • Must meet requirements for highly qualified teachers.
  • Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Effective communication skills and collaborative working style.
  • Ability to instruct students using various technology applications and platforms.
  • Ability to support students with technology issues in distance or virtual instruction.
  • Expertise in one or more academic areas or developmental age groups.
  • CPI certified or ability to receive and maintain CPI certification.

Responsibilities

  • Implement federal, state, and district guidelines for supporting students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
  • Enhance the academic growth of students using effective teaching practices.
  • Guide the learning process towards achieving curriculum and IEP goals.
  • Employ appropriate instructional methods and resources to meet student needs.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
  • Collect data and monitor student progress regularly, providing progress reports as required.
  • Seek assistance from district specialists regarding learning disabilities.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents regarding student achievement and the instructional program.
  • Provide classroom management in-person and/or virtually.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
  • Implement the LCISD philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules according to regulations and policies.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with administrators to oversee paraprofessional responsibilities.
  • Provide training for paraprofessionals on data collection and instructional strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Prepare documents and attend ARD/IEP meetings for eligible students.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to develop IEP goals and objectives.
  • Attend required trainings and staff development.
  • Accept responsibility for professional growth through various educational opportunities.
  • Communicate regularly with students and parents via various methods.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
