About The Position

The Teacher of Social Studies at Boerne Independent School District is responsible for providing students with engaging learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area. The role aims to help students achieve their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, equipping them with the necessary competencies and skills to succeed in society.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned.
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
• ESL certification for all CORE and SPED positions (required to obtain during the first year of employment).
• TX Reading Academies Certificate required for K-3 teachers.
• Satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the district's curriculum requirements.
• Design lessons that include accommodations for individual student differences.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology.
• Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students according to IEP guidelines.
• Plan and assign work to instructional aides and oversee completion.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
• Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
• Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
